ABSTRACT There is described the compound (22R,23R,24S)- 22,23-epoxy-2.alpha., 3.alpha.-isopropylidenedioxy-B-homo-7-oxa-5.alpha.- stigmastan-6-one which is a valuable plant growth regulator. The process of preparing this compound by oxidizing (22E,24S)- 2 .alpha., 3 .alpha.-isopropylidenedioxy-B- homo-7-oxa-5 .alpha.-stigmastan-6-one is also disclosed, as well as a composition containing same with an agro- chemically acceptable carrier, and a method of regu- lating the growth of plants by spraying the composition onto the plants.
