A dielectrically loaded quadrifilar helical antenna has four quarter turn helical elements centred on a common axis. Each helical element is metallised on the outer cylindrical surface of a solid dielectric core and each has a feed end and a linked end, the linked ends being connected together by a linking conductor encircling the core. At an operating frequency of the antenna the helical elements and the linking conductor together form two conductive loops each having an electrical length in the region of (2n-l)/2 times the wavelength, where n is an integer. Such an antenna tends to present a source impedance of at least 500 ohms to receiver circuitry to which it is connected. The invention includes an antenna assembly including a dielectrically antenna and a receiver having a radio frequency front-end stage with a differential input coupled to the feed ends of the helical elements.
La présente invention concerne une antenne hélicoïdale chargée diélectriquement comprenant quatre éléments hélicoïdaux de type quart de tour centrés sur un axe commun. Chaque élément hélicoïdal est métallisé sur la surface cylindrique externe d'un noyau diélectrique solide et comprend une extrémité d'alimentation et une extrémité liée, les extrémités liées étant connectées ensemble par un conducteur de liaison encerclant le noyau. A une fréquence de fonctionnement de l'antenne, les éléments hélicoïdaux et le conducteur de liaison forment en commun deux boucles conductrices ayant chacune une longueur électrique dans la région de (2n-l)/2 fois la longueur d'onde, où n est un entier. Ce type d'antenne présente une impédance de source d'au moins 500 ohms à la circuiterie du récepteur auquel elle est connectée. La présente invention comprend un ensemble d'antenne comprenant une antenne diélectrique et un récepteur ayant une phase frontale de fréquence radio avec une entrée différentielle couplée aux extrémités d'alimentation des éléments hélicoïdaux.
