ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An antilock brake device for vehicles including a sensor for sensing the possibility of wheel lock during braking by means of overruning rotation of a flywheel interlocked with the wheel to produce an output and a hydraulic controller for reducing the braking hydraulic pressure of the wheel brake upon reception of the output from the sensor and increasing the braking hydraulic pressure when the output from the sensor is eliminated. The flywheel and a transmission for transmitting the rotation of the wheel to the flywheel are arranged in the hollow portion of a hub of the wheel. Transmission mechanisms are employed to separate components within the hub to further reduce the overall size of the system. A variety of embodiments also disclose cooperation between front and rear brakes to improve braking response and efficiency.
