In a method and device for re-tuning a set of communication channels from respective current frequencies to respective new frequencies, a channel separation value is calculated between the new frequency of each channel and the current frequency of every other channel, an order of re-tuning of the communication channels causing no interference between the new and current frequencies during retune is determined from the calculated channel separation values, and the communication channels are re-tuned in this determined order. To determine the order or re-tuning of the channels, the calculated channel separation values are compared to a given minimum channel separation value, pairs of new and current frequencies having a calculated channel separation value lower than this given minimum channel separation value are identified from this comparison, an adjacency matrix is built from these identified pairs of new and current frequencies, and a topological sorting algorithm is applied to the adjacency matrix. The present invention further relates to a method of calculating a channel separation value between a first channel frequency and a second channel frequency, and a method of detecting co-channel interference between two communication channels using this method for calculating channel separation values.
