ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A "ready" indicator for high-voltage switchgear of a type which contains switches having a normal position (opened or closed) and a switch operator therefor. The switch operator may include a stored-energy device which may be in a charged or an uncharged state, and an automatic control device which, de- pending upon circuit conditions, causes operation of the switch operator to put the switch in a selected position. The "ready" indicator includes appropriate sensors which detect the presence or absence of certain conditions. For example, the sensors may detect the ability ot inability of the automatic control device to effect operation of the switch operator, the position of the switch operator which indicates the position of the switch (opened or closed), charged or uncharged states of the stored-energy device in the switch operator, and whether or not the switch operator is properly coupled to the switch. The sensors provide signals to logic circuitry which produces an indication of whether all of the switches, switch operators, automatic control devices, and the like found in the switchgear are in an appropriate condition.
