CATHODIC WATER TREATER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved unit is disclosed for treating water containing dissociatable mineral salts which tend to accumulate on surfaces exposed thereto wherein the unit is of the type that has an ion neutralizing electrostatic energy producing generator made up of a series of soft iron bars around the water outlet for the treater housing, a plate connected to the ends of the bars and a fine mesh bronze screen surround- ing the bars for subdividing the water into fine streams as it flows into the generator past the iron bars. The water inlet and outlet of the treater and the housing are arranged and configured to cause the water flowing through the gener- ator in a spiral pattern. Unexpectedly better results are obtained in this type of water treating unit by providing an aperture in the plate closing the bottom of the generator substantialy at the axis of the spiral water flow pattern and closed by a disc of copper tinned with silver solder on the face thereof remote from the interior of the generator.
