ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved method of coating glass articles, particularly bottles, is disclosed whereby the plastic coating has superior properties. The articles are first treated with an aqueous or alcoholic silane size and dried and then coated with a composition consisting of aliphatic and/or cyclo- aliphatic diisocyanates or their conversion products with water in a mol ratio of 2: ? 1, and a mixture of compounds containing hydroxy groups which consists of 40 - 80% by wt. trifunctional hydroxyl-group-containing polyesters, from .omega.- hydroxycarboxylic acids or their lactones with at least 4 C atoms, and having a mean molecular weight of 300 to 1400; 15 - 50% by weight, bifunctional, hydroxyl-group-con- taining polyesters from .omega. -hydroxycarboxylic acids or their lactones with at least 4 C atoms, and having a mean mole- cular weight of 400 to 2000; and 2.5 - 20% wt. aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic diols, referred to the total quantity of polyols. The coating is then hardened with the use of heat as required.
