ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vein catheter device is disclosed in which a hollow pointed needle for puncturing a vein is disposed axially in a catheter. The device is fitted with a connector providing an inlet for transfusion liquid into the catheter. An adaptor is used for connection of the inlet to a reservoir of transfusion liquid. The hollow needle passes through a self-sealing closure of the con- nector through which closure the needle can be withdrawn after vein puncture. In addition to passing transfusion liquid into the catheter, a further liquid such as a medicament solution may be passed into the catheter through the self-sealing closure without interupting the transfusion.
