ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 2-(4-Substituted piperazin-1-yl)-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy- quinazolines and 2-(4-substituted piperazin-1-yl)-4-amino- 6,7,8-trimethoxyquinazolines are produced by reacting certain 2-chloro (or bromo)-4-(substituted amino)quinazolines with the appropriate 1-substituted piperazine to obtain the de- sired compounds directly or a 2-(4-substituted piperazin-1-yl)- 4-(substituted amino)quinazoline; in the latter case the substitutent on the 4-amino group of the quinazoline is selectively removed to provide the desired compounds. The products are known hypotensive agents.
