ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a tape winding mechanism for a video tape recorder which winds a video tape onto a rotary head for video recording and regeneration. Generally video tape is wound slant-wise onto the rotary head, and accomplishes this by having the tape travel slant-wise with respect to the rotary head which is disposed vertically. The pinch roller draws the tape out of the cassette and winds the tape slant-wise onto the rotary head. The rotary head has at its peripheral surface a slant tape guide groove to accomplish the slant-wise winding onto the rotary head.
