Abstract of the Disclosure: This invention is directed to thiazolidine derivatives of the formula I Image (I) wherein R1 is alkyl or alkenyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R2 is an alkyl or alkenyl radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by alkoxy groups of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl radicals of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl radicals of 1 or 2 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety and R1 and R2 may also stand for an alkyl chain of 2 to 4 carbon atoms which may be branched, R3 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or alkoxy of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, or an amino group - NR4R5 wherein R4 and R5 are identical or different, and each represents hydrogen, a lower alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or R4 represents a cycloalkyl radical of 5 to 8 carbon atoms, if R5 stands for hydrogen, in which case R4 in combination with R5 represent tetramethylene, pentamethylene or hexamethylene and Y represents chlorine or bromine, and the physiologically tolerated salts thereof. These compounds have diuretic activity. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these compounds.
