ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention is a stabilized Romanowsky type stain solution. The stain solution which comprises azures, Methylene Blue and an eosin dye in methanol solution, is stabilized by the addition thereto of a stabilizing amount of a combination of dimethylamine hydrochloride and a second amine of the formula R2NH2+Cl- or R2NH+Cl- where R is ethyl, n-propyl or n-butyl.
