ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention concerns new pyridyloxy-phenoxy- alkanecarboxylic acid derivatives with herbicidal and plant growth-regulating aciton. A process for the production of these compounds is described, compositions containing them and their use as active compounds. The new pyridyloxy-phenoxylalkanecarboxylic acid derivatives have the formula Image wherein A is cyano or carboxyl, an ester, thioester or amido radical or the salt of the carboxylic acid with a cation or a quaternary ammonium group. C to E individually are selected from hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkyl- sulfonyl, thiocarbamide, mono- or dialkylsulfamoyl. alkoxyalkylsulfamoyl, alkoxylakyl, cyano or nitro. n is 0,1,2, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl thioalky or alkoxylakyl, R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, carboxyl or alkoxycarbonyl.
