RETARDING ACIDIZING FLUIDS Abstract of the Disclosure Methods of chemically retarding the reaction rates of acidizing fluids on calcareous formations and chemically retarded acidizing compositions are provided. The method comprises combining an organic diphosphonate amine with said acidizing fluid having the general formula: Image wherein: R is an alkyl group having in the range of from about 8 to about 16 carbon atoms; and contacting said calcareous formation with the resulting retarded acidizing fluid.
