ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a method of obtaining repre- sentatively comparable results, when analysing exhaust gases from different vehicle internal combustion engines, comprising varying the engine fuel supply means according to a pre- selected test program to simulate varying operating conditions, and a monitoring device transferring the test program to the fuel supply means with respect to the rated power of the actual engine and the weight of the vehicle in which it is mounted in such a manner that acceleration changes in the engine are so governed that they correspond substantially to changes in speed of the vehicle presupported by the program.
