ABSTRACT A method of packaging big web rolls of different sizes is based on the use of a roll packaging line with a plurality of separate roll handling stations and a roll moving arrangement for moving the rolls from one handling station to another. The method includs the steps of moving the web rolls in their axial direction at least through a majority of the handling stations, thereby keeping the rolls supported by moving members so as to avoid translational rolling of the rolls. Preferably the web rolls are moved in their axial direction also between the handling stations and hence, the web rolls will have a linear movement through the entire packaging line.
