CARPET CLEANING SYSTEM ABSTRACT The present invention provides an improved carpet cleaning system for low cost, high reliability, improved cleaning solution recovery, and reduced carpet wear. In one embodiment, an integral beater bar and solution dispensing arrangement are provided for both dispensing cleaning fluid and agitating the carpet at the same time. Close proximity between the solution dispensing devices and the vacuum recovery ports enhances fluid recovery. Use of a solenoid in conjunction with a beater bar improves carpet cleaning and reduces carpet wear.
