ABSTRACT In X-ray apparatus the beam radiated from an X-ray tube through a patient to a radiation receptor is transmitted through elongate windows in coordinated moving masks respectively located between the tube and the patient and between the patient and receptor so that the patient and the receptor are scanned by a moving fan shaped X-ray beam. The widths of the windows can be adjusted between minimum and maximum widths determined in part by the desired X-ray dosage of the patient and the power capacity of the tube.
