ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Methods are provided for the use of Thymus gland extracts, such as Thymosin, fraction 5, as an anti- autoimmune disease agent, useful in treating autoimmune diseases such as hypertension, lupus and diabetes. Thymosin, fraction 5, administration stimulated the development of a specific subclass of Thymus derived cells called Thymus suppressor cells which reduced the autoimmune state, thereby reducing hypertension, lupus, diabetes, and other autoimmune diseases.
