ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE N-[(1-Naphthalenyl)thioxomethyl]glycine derivatives are prepared by thionaphthoylation of glycine derivatives. These derivatives are inhibitors of aldose reductase. They are therefore useful for treating diabetic complications for example neuropathy, nephro- pathy, retinopathy cataracts and atherosclerosis.
