ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pyrazole compound having the structural formula Image wherein R1is C1-C4 haloalkyl or ROR5, wherein R is C1-C2 alkylene or C2 alkylidene and R5 is hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C2-C5 alkanoyl, aroyl, C8-C10 aralkanoyl, C7-C9 aralkyl, pnenyl, phenyl substituted with C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, trihalomethyl, hydroxy, cyano or nitro, or benzoyl substituted with halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, trihalomethyl, hydroxy, cyano or nitro; R2 is C1-C4 alkyl, C5-C6 cycloalkyl, C7-C9 aralkyl, C7-C9 alkaryl, phenyl, naphthyl, a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group containing oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or phenyl substi- tuted with halogen, trihalomethyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, hydroxy or cyano; Y is oxygen or sulfur; R3 is C1-C4 alkyl, C2-C4 alkenyl, C3-C4 alkynyl, C2-C6 alkoxyalkyl or C2-C6 alkylthioalkyl; R4 is hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl or trihalomethyl; provided that R2 is not 3,4-dialkylphenyl or 3,4-dihalophenyl useful as a herbicide is disclosed.
