ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An expansion dowel assembly includes an expanding sleeve and a spacer sleeve with a deformable metal sleeve spacer member extending between them. At the outset, the spacer member has a non-circular cross section, however, during the expansion operation, the spacer sleeve telescopes into the spacer member and deforms it outwardly so that it assumes an approximately circular cross sectional shape.
