AIN45209 A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ZIRCONIUM CARBOXYLATE ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A process is described for the production of zirconi- um carboxylate comprising combining a carboxylate and a zir- conium salt within a basic environment of a basic aqueous solution. The carboxylate is provided in an amount suffi- cient to give a ratio of carboxylate to zirconium equiva- lents in a range of from about 1.0:1.0 to 1.40:1.0 and the basic environment is provided by a basic salt in an amount sufficient to leave an excess of base after the combination of the zirconium salt and the carboxylate, whereupon the zirconium reacts in one step to form the zirconium carboxyl- ate product.
