ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE R-carbazole and S-carbazole derivatives are provided of the formula (I): Image (I) in which R10 is an unsubstituted or substituted amino radical and their pharmacologically compatible, pharmaceutically acceptable salts as well as processes for their preparation which permits production of the antipodes in pure form, the pharmacological effective- ness of the antipodes differ from that of the corres- ponging racemates and by selecting the ratio of R- and S-enantiomer the most favourable relationship of the different activities of the enantiomers can be obtained, pharmacological activity includes activity as .beta.-blockers and lowering of blood pressure.
