ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT WITH MULTIPLE INTERCHANGEABLE OPERATING MODES Abstract of the Disclosure An electronic instrument has an electrical circuit consisting of a primary sub-circuit and a secondary sub-circuit, the sub-circuits being electrically connected by a flexible cable and a plug and socket arrangement. The primary sub-circuit is mounted within a cabinet and the secondary sub- circuit fits within a housing which is movable between a first position within the cabinet and a second position outside the cabinet. In the second position, the secondary sub circuit is exposed, enabling it to be electrically disconnected from the primary sub-circuit, removed from the housing, and readily replaced by another secondary sub-circuit. Typically for a data communications monitor, the secondary sub-circuits are read-only-memories (ROM's) mounted within cassettes which, if not in use, are stored in a storage facility, the housing and the storage facility being integrally molded as a drawer which slides into and out of the cabinet. - i -
