(1) ABSTRACT Preparation of Heterocyclic Compounds In a process for the preparation of a herbicidally effective compound of the general formula I Image (I) wherein each of R1 and R2 independently represents an optionally substituted phenyl group, a compound of the general formula II Image (II) wherein each Hal represents a halogen atom, is reacted with a compound of the general formula R1OH or a phenoxide derivative thereof, in the presence of a solvent comprising water: and the product is reacted with an inorganic azide.
