ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sheltered housing communications system comprises a plurality of sheltered housing groups each having tenanted houses interconnected to a warden's house accommodating a terminal by means of a communications network. A communica- tions centre functionally duplicates the terminal for a plurality of wardens houses and are connected by communica- tions channels to the respective wardens terminals and each wardens house comprises means for switching the pertaining local network through to the communications centre so as to bypass the local warden's terminal.
