ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides a device for closing a flex- ible container, such as a money bag. The device comprises a body portion having first and second opposed gripping arms extending therefrom, the first and second opposed gripping arms are adapted to be folded about a fold line relative to the body portion whereby the first and second opposed gripping arms, with the body portion, are capable of at least partially encir- cling the flexible container for closure thereof. Each grip- ping arm has at least one gripping and engaging means extending inwardly therefrom and the body portion has a first gripping and engaging means adapted to fixedly engage the flexible con- tainer in one direction, and a further second gripping and engaging means adapted to fixedly engage the flexible container in a second opposed direction. Means are provided in at least one of the body portion or the first and second opposed grip- ping arms for passage of a tie member operatively associated therewith. The device provides a tamperproof closure for a flexible container when used in combination with a tie and deformable sealing element. By virtue of the gripping and en- gaging means on the arms, and particularly the oppositely directed gripping and engagement means on the body, any attempt at unauthorized entry into a bag closed with the device, such as by turning the seal back and forth around the bag, results only in the gripping and engaging means being embedded further into the material of the bag, thereby avoiding such attempts as have been encountered with prior art devices
