Abstract of the Disclosure A flame resistant resin composition comprising (a) a synthetic resin, (b) red phosphorus coated with a thermosetting resin and (c) a filler. The coated red phosphorus is useful as a flame retardant for various synthetic resins, particularly thermoplastic polyesters such as polyalkylene terephthalates, and can impart the flame resistance to the resins without impairing heat stability and electric characteristics. The use of the coated red phosphorus in combination with talc is particularly preferred.
