ABSTRACT EXERCISE MACHINES An exercise machine comprises a first member (8) exercisingly moveable by a part of the body against the resistance of a weight (12), and a second member (14) operable by another part of the body to assist or resist movement of the first member (8), and a linkage selectively engageable by a control knob (32) between the second member and the weight in two modes in which force applied to the second member (84) in the same direction respectively assists and resists movement of the first member (8).
