A collect- ing tank is disposed below the screen and an outflow leads to a settling tank. The screen may be located to accept fines from a cyclone separator, material retained by the screen being passed to a reciprocating flat screen over tank, and the coarse fraction from the separator being fed onto a flat bed screen over a settling tank.
