ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mechanism for a press section of a papermaking machine including a press having first and second press rolls forming a pressure loaded press nip therebetween with a support frame and end bearings for the first roll with a support carrying the end bearings on the frame including first and second layers of deformable elastic material with a plate connected to the bearing between the layers of material and plates on the outer surfaces of the layers connected to the frame so that vibrational forces normal to the direction of movement of the web through the nip are passed through the layers of elastic material.
