ABSTRACT An improved ring saw having a disk-shaped saw body with a cutting ring mounted to rotate about the saw body. The cutting ring has an inwardly directed flange that fits within a slot in the peripheral edge of the saw body. Cutting teeth are mounted in the ring. Drive means mounted on the saw body rotate the cutting ring about the saw body to have the saw cut into a tree as the saw body is moved toward the tree.
