ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A protective system for a circuit having a fuse and a switch serially connected in the circuit. The switch has separable contacts and a flux-transferring trip mechanism which upon being energized cause the switch contacts to thereby open. The switch contacts once opened are mechanically interlocked and may not be closed until the switch has been reset. A transformer is connected across the fuse with the output of the transformer being connected to a rectifying circuit, thereby producing a direct current output when the fuse blows. When the fuse blows a voltage is generated across the fuse at a prede- termined rate thereby producing a direct current output which then energizes the flux-transferring trip mechanism which in turn opens the switch contacts.
