ABSTRACT: The high-pressure discharge lamp has oppositely arranged electrodes (2,3) of wound tungsten wire. The electrodes (2,3) are the mirror images of one another and are arranged in the mirror image orientations of one another. The electrodes (2,3) are free from material favouring electron emission. The form and the mutual relation of the electrodes (2,3) prevent the lamp from flickering during operation in a position in which a straight line (9) through these electrodes (2,3) is horizontal.
