ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Chrome-complexed black dyes which include either a 1- naphthol-2'-naphthol-1',2-azo dye moiety or a 2-naphthol-2'- naphthol-1,1' azo dye moiety, a para-substituted phenyl-azopyra- zolone dye moiety, a cation, and also a substituent including at least one diffusion control moiety. Diffusion transfer photo- graphic color products and processes in which these are utilized are also described. These neutral tone black image dye-providing materials include a dye chromophore as described above and a dif- fusion control moiety such as a hydroquinonyl group or a precursor thereof. The image dye-providing materials may be diffusible or nondiffusible as a function of the diffusion control moiety.
