ABSTRACT In order to be able to transmit information in a simple manner from a ground station, in the vicinity of the track, to a rail vehicle, use is made of a series of transceivers which are arranged longitudinally of the track and which, when a rail vehicle equipped with interrogator travels over them, cooperate with the interrogator individually and sequentially to provide individual elements of a code group. The individual transceivers comprise an oscillatory circuit which is tuned to the frequency of the interrogator and draws its total energy requirements required for trans- mission from the transmitting power of the interrogator.
