ABSTRACT In a power supply for a remote controlled television receiver, a bridge rectifier (25) includes first (D4) and second (D2) unidirectional current conducting devices, an output terminal (23), a current return terminal (24) and two input terminals (21,22). A remote control circuit (40) generates an on/off command signal (95). A source (20) of alternating voltage available during both states of the command signal (95) is coupled between the two input terminals (21,22). A first direct voltage (Vin) is developed between the output (23) and current return terminals (24) during both the on and the off states of the command signal (95) upon alternate conduction of the two unidirectional current conducting devices (D4,D2). A first power supply (90) is coupled between the bridge rectifier output (23) and current return (24) terminals and is responsive to the command signal (95) for developing an operating potential (B+) from the first direct voltage (Vin) only during the on-state of the command signal (95). A load circuit (85) is energized by the operating potential (B+) to draw power from the bridge rectifier output terminal (23). The remote control circuit (40) is energized by a standby DC power supply (10) that employs one (D4) of the bridge rectifier unidirectional current conducting devices to develop a second, lower magnitude direct voltage (V1) that energizes the remote control circuit (40) during both the on and off states of the command signal (95). The standby power supply (10) includes a filter circuit (15) having an input terminal (22) coupled to one (D4) of the unidirectional current conducting devices of the bridge rectifier (25) for half-wave rectifying and filtering the alternating voltage (20). The second direct voltage (V1) is developed between the filter output (42) and current return (24) terminals. Do Not Use Reference Numerals If Not Required.
