ABSTRACT A system for measuring bleeding time in vitro, is disclosed in which blood is passed under pressure through a porous element and the resulting volumetric flow is measured. The porous element is provided with a through aperture and supported in such a manner that the blood moves through the aper- ture and not laterally into the porous element. The porous element can be soaked in a solution, for example adenosine diphosphate, which coagulates the platelets and in this manner it is advantageously possible to reproduce in vivo bleeding conditions.
