ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a security device for a thermostat having a housing, a lid member secured to the housing for movement between an opened position and a closed position and defining an interior chamber with the housing and a thermostat adjustment shaft rotatably mounted in the chamber and extending exteriorly of the housing for manual manipulation thereof, the device comprising a lock member mounted in the chamber for movement between a first position whereat the member lockingly engages the adjustment shaft to prevent rotation thereof and engages the lid member to prevent opening of the lid and a second position whereat the locking member is disengaged from the adjustment shaft and the lid permitting manual manipulation of the shaft and opening of the lid and an actuating member disposed in the chamber and extending exteriorly of the housing for displacing the lock member between in its first and second positions.
