PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'iodure de trifluorométhyle, caractérisé en ce que dans une lère étape, on introduit soit un métal choisi parmi le zinc, le cadmium, l'aluminium, le manganèse avec du dioxyde de soufre, soit du dithionite alcalin dans un solvant aprotique polaire suivi par l'addition de bromure de trifluorométhyle puis après filtration dans une 2ème étape par l'addition d'iode en solution dans un acide carboxylique, un acide sulfonique, un acide carboxylique perfluoré ou un acide sulfonique perfluoré, étant entendu que la première étape est mise en oeuvré sous une pression réactionnelle supérieure à 1 bar. Ce procédé est sûr et économiquement valable, notamment en égard aux procédés de l'art antérieur.
