PICTURE TUBE WITH PROTECTIVE FACILITY Abstract of the Disclosure A few sharply defined and irregularly distributed obstacles in the form of inhomogeneities are provided in or at the funnel section of a picture tube. This influences the process of an unavoidable implosion from the very beginning as cracks are formed at the inhomogeneities as a result of the energy accumulation in case of impacts endangering the tube. These cracks propogate immediately to the tube neck, where they result in safe devacuation of the tube.
