Abstract of the Disclosure In an apparatus for washing dishes, glasses and the like, the water used for washing and rinsing drains to a collection tank, from which it is extracted by a pump and circulated again through spray means for washing the glasses, etc. At appropriate times a dump valve is opened in the bottom of the collection tank by an automatic timing mechanism and the liquid is dumped quickly into a sump tank below the collection tank, from which it can drain in a slower period of time to the sewer. Means for opening this valve quickly consists of a pivoted arm on which the valve is mounted, the other end of the arm being engaged by a cam member which permits the valve to open at the appropriate time. The operator is able to observe whether or not additives for the wash and rinse liquid have been added, since the pipes feeding the additives into the collection tank have a visibly-open portion. The water resulting from the last rinse is collected in the collection tank and is employed in the succeeding wash cycle as the wash liquid.
