ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Drawout switchgear apparatus characterized by a cell having a plurality of spaced fixed terminal stabs therein, an insulating shutter structure extending across the terminal stabs, a switchgear unit removably disposed in the cell and including terminal means for detachably engaging with the terminal stabs during movement into and out of the cell, obstruction means retractably mounted for preventing movement of the shutter when the switchgear unit is removed from the cell, and trigger means on the unit for retracting the obstruction means when the unit moves into the cell for exposing the stabs to the terminal means of the unit.
