ABSTRACT This invention relates to pyridopyrimidinones of the formula Image wherein the dotted lines indicate an optional double bond present in the diaza ring and the absence of R4 when said double bond is present, wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, inclusive or phenyl; wherein Y is hydrogen or substituted phenyl; wherein Z is hydrogen, or -(CH2)n-NR2R3, wherein n is 1 to 6, and R2 and R3 are alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, inclusive, R2 and R3 each being the same or different; or wherein R2 and R3 are taken together to form a cyclic structure either saturated or unsaturated of from 4 to 6 carbon atoms, inclusive; and wherein R4 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, inclusive; including the corresponding isomers and racemates thereof, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds are useful as antiarrhythmic agents.
