ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to the cleavage of siloxanes with hydrogen chloride, with formation of organo- chlorosilanes. According to the invention, this cleavage is carried out at temperatures below 20°C, whereby the di and trihydrate of hydrogen chloride are formed. These sink down as specifically heavy liquid phase and can be readily separated off from the organochlorosilanes in this manner. The preferred temperature region at which the process according to the invention is carried out lies between +10°C and -10°C; in this way yield of up to 99% of the desired organochloro- silanes are obtained. The process may also be carried out continuously.
