Procédé et dispositif pour l'élimination de l'H2S présent à faible concentration dans un gaz renfermant également une quantité importante de vapeur d'eau. Le gaz à traiter et refroidi à une température inférieure à la température de rosée de l'eau qu'il contient pour produire un courant d'eau condensée et un gaz froid exempt d'eau. Ce gaz est lavé au moyen d'un liquide absorbent fixant l'H2S pour former un liquide absorbant chargé, qui est régénéré puis recyclé au lavage, et un gaz épuré. Ce gaz épuré est réhydraté par mise en contact avec un courant d'eau renfermant l'eau condensée et éventuellement d'autres eaux résiduaires éventuellement rajoutées. Application à l'élimination de l'H2S présent dans ces gaz divers fortement hydratés.
