An octapeptide of the formula: Image wherein A1 is D-.beta.-Nal, N-acetyl-D-.beta.-Nal, D-X-Phe (where X is H, OH, or CH3), or pentafluoro-Phe; and A2 is Thr or L-.beta.-Nal, provided that either A1 must be D-.beta.-Nal or N-acetyl-D-.beta.-Nal, or A2 must be L-.beta.-Nal, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These compounds are useful in inhibiting the secre- tion of GH, insulin and glucagon.
