ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A programmable logic controller system including a programmable logic controller having an input/output scanner for reading data from and writing data to peripheral controllers as determined by a ladder diagram. Each of the peripheral controllers controls a plurality of data points. A input/output scanner includes a processor coupled to input/output ports. The input/output ports couple to the peripheral controllers. The system includes a memory for storing data read from and to be written to the peripheral controllers. There is a logic scanner for executing compiled boolean logic statements representing the ladder diagram. - 1 -
