PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PAPER Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to the production of paper wherein a drainage and retention aid is added to an aqueous suspension of cellulosic fibers for making paper sheets. The drainage and retention aid has a structure AB wherein the B portion of the structure is cross-linked by the A portion of the structure. The A portion is a residue resulting from the removal of chlorine atoms from a cross-linking compound prepared by reacting a polyoxyalkylene glycol compound with a halogenated oxide in the presence of a suitable catalyst. The B portion is the residue resulting from the removing of amino hydrogens from a polyamine compound prepared by reacting an initiator selected from the group consisting of alkylene glycols, polyalkylene glycols and water; a halogenated epoxide; and an amine.
